OMAR Profile

Historical Achievements

OMAR Kabul International Airport KIA Demining Project.

The OMAR Kabul International Airport (KIA) Demining Project focuses on ensuring the safety of one of Afghanistan’s busiest transit hubs. OMAR teams have diligently cleared landmines and unexploded ordnance (UXO) from the airport grounds, significantly reducing risks for travelers and staff. This project enhances the safety of KIA, supporting Afghanistan’s connectivity and economic development while reinforcing OMAR’s commitment to creating mine-free environments across the nation.

OMAR EORE

In the early 1990s, OMAR (Organization for Mine Clearance and Afghan Rehabilitation) launched Mine Risk Education programs in refugee camps across Pakistan. These initiatives educated Afghan refugees, especially children and vulnerable groups, about the dangers of landmines and unexploded ordnance they might face upon returning to Afghanistan. Through engaging sessions and visual aids, OMAR empowered thousands to identify and avoid explosive hazards, prioritizing safety and laying the groundwork for its ongoing mission to create mine-free communities across Afghanistan.
